Our duty for the future
De Weerribben is een prachtig natuurgebied en wij vinden het belangrijk om deze omgeving zo goed mogelijk te behouden voor toekomstige generaties. Daarom nemen we onze verantwoordelijkheid op het gebied van Corporate Social Responsibility (MVO) serieus.
What do we do?
- Plastic waste: We actively clean up litter in nature, from plastic packaging to tires.
- Local products: We serve as many Dutch products as possible for breakfast. This is better for animal welfare and food safety.
- Energy saving: We have replaced all halogen lamps with LED lighting and are investing in insulation and energy-efficient equipment.
- Solar energy: In 2015 we installed solar panels and in 2020 we installed three solar boiler systems.
- Heating: We heat the apartments and the restaurant kitchen with induction hobs and energy-efficient air conditioners. As a result, our gas consumption has fallen by 2/3!
Future plans
We continuously look for new ways to reduce our impact on the environment. In the future we want to invest even more in solar and wind energy and collaborate with local suppliers.

'In recent years we have invested in various sustainable solutions:
- Zonnepanelen: Our solar panels generate 20% of our total energy needs every year.
- Solar boilers: Thanks to our solar boilers, we can meet 90% of our hot water needs in the summer months.
- Insulation: We insulate with special insulation foil. This foil is windproof and very insulating.
- Mowing robot: Our mowing robot ensures a beautiful and healthy lawn and is a sustainable choice. It is quiet and mows at times when there are few or no guests present.
